I always loved to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spend all day there. Egyptian Art was one of my favorite sections to visit. I'm not a mummy fan but Egyptian bold architecture and delicate design motifs and hieroglyphics on papyrus and bas-reliefs always attracted me. On this piece I gathered all ancient Egyptian images in my file, female Pharaoh Hatshepsut and Luxor Temple. I cut stencils for Bastet and hieroglyphics. I added a modern cat for a twist, and finally finished with subtle geometric figures. Bastet is cat headed goddess. I often enjoy jaxtaposition of ancient and modern, yet I relate those with some elements. In this case, cats, female, and golden eyes.
